The City of Drakesboro is a rural city that is working hard to provide excellent water and wastewater services to citizens. We are looking to add another well-trained employee to our local infrastructure.

The City of Drakesboro provides Wastewater Treatment to around 1,000 customers and small businesses every day. Employees work to keep this life sustaining resource available to everyone while protecting and supporting the environment.

Job Title:

Wastewater Treatment Plant - Drakesboro Wastewater

Summary:

The purpose of this position is to operate the wastewater treatment plant and collections system. This is accomplished by learning from other operators about plant equipment and/or processes and assisting with monitoring equipment and processes for proper operations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Observes/reports on facility and system conditions/operations
• Uses biological/chemical parameters to analyze overall wastewater treatment plant operations
• Performs laboratory analysis on wastewater samples to recommend/implement operational changes
• Maintains facility equipment and housekeeping in assigned area
• Maintaining collection lines, manholes, and lift stations within the system
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Ability to lift minimum of 50 lbs. and be able to work around chemicals, solvents, and dust in an industrial environment
• Good oral/written communication skills
• Mathematical and computer operation skills
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors, during inclement weather, and weekends and holidays as assigned
• Ability to obtain KY Wastewater Operator Certification within the following time frames from the first available Class I Certification:
• KY Class I Wastewater Treatment Certification within one year.
• KY Class II Wastewater Treatment Certification within two years

Preferred Qualifications:

• Possess a Class I or II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License and a Class I Wastewater Collections Operator License issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
• Or possess a drinking water treatment or distribution may substitute for partial requirements for Wastewater Treatment and Collection Class designation

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma/GED
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment.
• Must be able to obtain a Class II Wastewater Treatment Plant and Class I Wastewater Collections Operator License issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky upon completion of one year of employment in the position
• Pass a physical exam, background check, and drug/alcohol screening, as conditions of employment

Availability Requirements:

• Must be able to work irregular hours in response to emergency situations at all hours, be on-call one weekend a month, and live within 30 mins from the plant.
